Stronger Together Workshop Series

Building Bridges of Understanding. We are Stronger Together.

Join the State Attorney’s Office, PJI, law enforcement, victim advocates, and community partners for free, interactive workshops on recognizing and reporting hate crimes. Participants will learn what constitutes a hate crime, explore data and trends to better understand their impact, and examine why many incidents go unreported. Through real-world examples, participants will identify key characteristics and elements of hate crimes and explore evidence-based strategies for improving reporting and law enforcement response. Together, we’ll build greater awareness and community capacity to recognize, report, and respond to hate-motivated incidents.

4 Key Grant Initiatives:

  • Community Outreach and Victim Support: PJI will facilitate community workshops to inform the public about their rights regarding hate crime laws and avenues for reporting hate crimes. Trauma-informed mental health services will also be available for hate crime victims. If your organization would like to host a workshop, email Dan Rowe at contact@mypji.org.
  • Online Hate Crime Reporting System: Establish an online reporting system through the Office of the State Attorney for the 9th Judicial Circuit.
  • Mediation for Non-Violent Hate Crimes: Facilitate community mediation between victims and offenders in appropriate non-violent hate crime cases to prevent escalation and future violence.
  • Law Enforcement Training: Law enforcement agencies will receive comprehensive training on hate crime laws and reporting requirements. To bring this free training to your agency, email Dr. James McDonald at contact@mypji.org
  • Prosecutor Training: Prosecutors will receive specialized training on identifying hate crimes and overcoming challenges associated with prosecuting bias-motivated offenses.
